Xenowars | Defense, Dungeon, And Dung
Old School RuneScape | Dorgsehuun
Dorgsehuun is a set of quests where I was able to finish the first couple of them. It would also be one of those quest lines where I find myself needing to grind some skills along the way just to run a couple of them.
The Lost Tribe
Thankfully this was not one of those quests I needed to grind a few levels in other skills to be able to do. It was also relativity short. It would end up introducing me to an entire area of the game I had no idea even existed. Along with going through a location I've noticed and wondered what was further beyond but never investigated.
Right under the Lumbridge Castle has been this spot in the wall, I've always wondered where it led. I could even see there was some kind of cave network beyond it. It was, however, not something I could just get to. At least from my point of view. So, I never attempted to do so until this quest. Where you break open a section of the wall with a pickaxe.
While it seemed like the cave went on forever, I just needed to explore the entry area I made. Around there I found a brooch which I ended up taking back into the castle to show around.
After reading a book about traveling to a goblin village I found myself back in the caves. I ended up needing to get through the cave for the first time by myself. It was set up more like a maze and quite dark even with a light source. After that, I'd be given an option to travel to a goblin encampment that was deeper inside.
This quest certainly piqued my interest in what else must be down there. Since the quest was so short I decided to take the next one that was presented to me. I hope to explore further about the cave itself.
Death To The Dorgeshuun
This quest requires having two full sets of H.A.M outfits. After checking how much they cost to buy on the exchange I decided to do some digging into farming on my own if possible.
It turns out that once you start this quest your chances of getting an H.A.M. outfit drop dramatically increases. So I ended up going over to the H.A.M hideout that was not that far from Lumbridge Castle.
Since you can steal with thieving the entire set. I decided to test the waters and see how many I could get. I also have a decent skill, so it was I had a decent rate of just thieving and not getting caught in general by the H.A.M members.
While I was thieving a lot of junk. I was also at quite a decent rate getting all the different items in from the H.A.M set. After what did not feel like a long amount of time my inventory was filled.
After making a bank run to drop off what I had acquired. I decided to empty my inventory and dump my current equipped armor into the bank. I could wear a full set of H.A.M myself. Allowing me to carry back even more items per thieving trip.
While the thieving experience itself was dreadful. I must have made 250k or so gold within 48 hours of selling everything that I acquired while I was thieving that I did not use for the quest. I also kept an outfit set for myself just in case I'd ever need it again.
I was tempted to not go on further with the quest. I have no clue if you go back to normal drop rates for the H.A.M outfit once you finish the quest. I never made the kind of gold I was making off this when I was a nonmember. I also had yet to find any decent gold-making methods that were working for my level either.
At the very least I was able to make up for quite a bit of spending I've been doing as of late. Which in part is why I ended up stopping around 250k gold worth of stuff looted. I have a nice little stockpile of gold I farmed before. For now, I'm just doing my best to maintain it till I find a decent farm. This could end up being one of the activities I end up doing further if I do not ruin it by moving forward on this quest.
Next up I needed to give a goblin a full set of H.A.M and wear one as well. There was then the slow process of walking the goblin around to what felt like a dozen or so different locations nearby and talking with quite a few different people.
Thankfully the goblin only got stuck once. This game was showing a bit of its age with how badly it seemed the goblin was attempting to follow me. At least when I have my cat out if he gets lost, I know at some point he will reappear. I was not taking my chances with the goblin so I made sure it would not get too far away from me before I'd stop or go back to it if needed.
I then went back into the hideout that I stole so many H.A.M outfits from. I’m shocked at this point they did not realize it was me. I was rather tempted to fill up what inventory slots I had on further parts of the outfit I could steal. I, however, was on a quest and decided to remain focused on the task at hand.
Sadly, we could end up getting stopped at one point. The goblin who had followed me around like an annoying pet after a cut sense now appeared dead outside of the hideout. This is however not where the story would end with it.
It’s a shame I could not at least get my full set of H.A.M back to sell later. I was perhaps as greedy as a goblin when that thought crossed my mind while looking at what appeared to be a dead goblin.
Since I had yet to do anything with Guthix I had to go a long way around to another cave. Inside I ended up having to play a mini-game to collect Tears of Guthix. I don’t know much about these tears since I've yet to work on that quest line. These tears were, however, able to revive the goblin at least.
It was then time to get some revenge. With all the thieving I had done and a bunch of other stuff. I was more than thrilled to do a little killing and finish off this quest. I got 2k experience in thieving and ranged. Not that great but with how much money I ended up making from all the farming I did at the start of this quest. I was more than thrilled with the way things turned out.
Another Slice of H.A.M
Sometimes I would end up passing before I started to work on the third quest in the series. There was one quest requirement I had yet to meet which was called The Dig Site. Shortly after finishing it, I'd start on this quest.
Doing The Dig Site quest was rather important as it introduced my character to handling buried artifacts. As some ended up being found during this quest, I was sent out to inspect them and remove them from the site so work could be continued on a railway.
It was a nice break from my normal pace of needing to uncover a bunch of artifacts. Then go over and clean them. Then turn them in. This game yet again surprises me with the amount of effort a team must have put in just to create this quest with the different game mechanics I had only seen in one other area of the game.
Once the artifacts had been dealt with, I was sent on quite the killing spree. These H.A.M people were starting to become quite the enemies of the goblins. I was more than happy to clear them out.
At one point I ended up finding the goblin I brought back with the tears in the last quest tied to a rail track. I ended up saving him. I also noticed the guy I thought I had already killed was still alive. That felt like unfinished business to me. So, I took him out once again. Hopefully, he won’t be making a return at some point.
I was quite thrilled to see this quest rewarded a 3k prayer experience. As I still need to unlock some critical prayer levels. I now also had access to an underground train. I have no idea how much if ever I'll be using the train.
Final Thoughts
While there is one more quest in the Dorgsehuun quest series. This is one of those instances where I lack the required level to do it. It’s also a skill I don’t have any plans for a while to even level up as it would cost quite a bit of gold to do so.
It was at least fun to finish off the first few quests. At a later point in time, I'm sure I'll be returning to quite a few quest series where I lack some requirements to hit up the last quest and finish them all off.
I just knew from some other quests I'm currently slowly grinding the requirements for. This among many other quests could be months down the line before I even spend the time to level up the required skills.
