Starfield | The Final Battle

the final battle.jpg

One universe was about to close to me forever while another one would open. I had some final epic battles to engage in. Some last legendary loot to acquire. I also needed some final artifact pieces.

Since I would not side with The Emissary or The Hunter, I would have to defeat both to move forward. At least they were a bit civil about it. Instead of attacking me there on Earth after just taking out so many Starborns. They gave me a location to meet them. Granted, it felt like I was walking into a trap by giving them a head start.

While I could have taken my time. I decided I had enough of the current universe. It was time to face the music and see how hard things were going to be battling both at once.

All the fighting I had done up to this point had quite depleted many of my supplies. Even more so since I still had some ways to go before the final battle. All I did know was I was not going to let either of these two make it to another universe. They have caused enough trouble in this one.

a space battle.jpg

Once I warped to the planet, I was asked to meet the Starborn at I was attacked by their ships. While this would end up not being the final battle. An epic space battle right before the end is a thrilling way to go.

Attacking me in space was one of their many mistakes. If there was one thing, I did not slack on it was getting quite an insane ship. This thing could take down entire armadas if needed. A couple of Starborn and their friends were no match for me.

While they did manage to get my shields down a couple of times. I came with a stockpile of hull repairs. Not to mention I have quite a few points into ship systems. So even when they did get my shields down it would not be for long.

They did at least put up a bigger fight than most have that I've dealt with. Like all others, it was only a matter of time before I cleared the playing field and went for a landing on the plant with the last artifact on it.

Once down on the planet as expected this place was set up like a trap. There were Starborn Guardians everywhere. It seemed their real tactic was depleting my ammo supply. Which they were quite good at doing.

I knew I was starting to get into some trouble when I ran out of sniper rounds. At least I had quite a powerful pistol when it came down to using it. I just miss having that range to nail just about anything from far away or close combat with my sniper rifle.

The Starborn were not the only things at this location. It was crawling with Ecliptic as well. At first, I thought the Starborn had already killed all of them. Then I realized both were not shooting at each other any longer once I walked in. They decided to combine forces and attack me instead.

At this point, I was mostly down my pistol and the shotgun. Most things only take a couple of hits if that is to be dead for the pistol. It’s more like a hand cannon than anything else, just quite short range.

After clearing quite a few different hallways. I'm slowly watching my bullet count get lower and lower. Things started to get strange again. Even more strange than when I was going between two different timelines of the same event.

different place.jpg

As this time around I was being transported to different locations around the game. It seemed like in a way it was an attempt to replay my life before me as if I had been killed. Expect, some details I don’t quite recall being the way they ended up going down. Making me wonder a bit if they occurred in different universes.

This was extremely disorientating as well. As my location kept changing without warning. One moment I'd be shooting at something and the next I'd be seeing something that had already transpired. Then the shooting might or might start up again.

what is going on.jpg

Then I started to wonder if I had not returned to my original universe when I had to choose which one to stay in. As in one of them, I was dead. Yet here I was seeing the moment I died that never happened in my universe.

Then I started to get rather concerned. Not because I was getting quite low on ammo, which I was. But by the fact I found a massive cache of ammo and even some weapons. Like one might expect to encounter before a massive boss fight.

I loaded up on every single piece of ammo I could. I knew the end was coming close. I even managed to get a few more rounds for my sniper rifle which I decided I'd use only when needed. Since it was not as much ammo as I was hoping for.

Then I started to get transported around to different times. I was in the lounge to our base of operations and so many different locations along the way. Never knowing which direction, I should be pointing my gun at.

It was then time to fight The Emissary and The Hunter. There were a bunch of duplicates spawned all around so I could no longer count on looking at the radar for red dots and pointing my guns in that direction.

Each time I was about to kill one it seemed they escaped with just a sliver of health remaining and vanish. For them to reappear once we changed to a new location yet again at full health.

Then the maddens stopped. I was looking down at the corpse of The Emissary and The Hunter. They were loaded with artifacts, and each had a powerful gun that I looted. It’s a shame I was not going to spend much longer in this universe and would end up having to give up guns. They looked quite fun to use.

I then went up and looted the last artifact I needed. Once back to my ship I put them all together and created the armillary. I then jumped into space and that is when everything changed forever.

talking to myeslef.jpg

I ended up having a conversation with myself about what was going on. It was quite strange. I was told I had two options. I could head towards the star and be reborn as a Starborn. I could also turn my back and head away from the cluster of stars and return to my current universe.

Final Thoughts

Starborn ship.jpg

I left the universe I was giving up everything but my levels and some unlocks. The fancy guns I just had looted, all the nice armor sets, and a pile of money and ships. Are all now gone. I started over again in a new universe.

I was at least given my Starborn ship to fly since I now became a Starborn myself. I was now tasked with doing it all over again. To move onto the next universe, I'd need all the artifacts again.

This is where for now I decided to take a break from things. I had quite an insane amount of fun. While things are a little different in the new universes, I'm in. I’m not really into the whole game plus versions of repeating games repeatedly. I did just about everything I could do in the first universe.

Perhaps at some point, I'll try running some of the broken missions I could not do the first time around. Assuming they now work, that is. I might also at some point get tempted to see how quickly I could make it to the next universe and what new options I get to select since I'm now a Starborn
