Xenowars | Try, Try, Again

Try Try Again.jpg

Things were not looking too great for me at the start. I ended up discovering there were some powerful people I should not be engaging with early on. I was also franticly trying to fill out my team to leave the planet for a new world.

It was quite a strange start. I awake next to a pile of bodies. All with these strange crystals sticking out of their head. It appears I was experimented on. Unlike the others that had been killed, I somehow survived.

the start.jpg

Strange feelings rushed through my mind as I was informed that I now could pilot an alien spaceship and needed to take a bunch of people with me. That I needed to set up a base and defeat aliens in some war that no longer felt so far away. As the effects of that war had carried over to Earth itself.

A couple of people around me ended up being the first to join my team. I felt I was going to need some people who knew what was going on. Even if they were somewhat responsible for the strange testing that was being done to people. They dragged me into this and I was going to drag them with me to the alien planet.

Funny enough the people that seemed to be invading tried to talk me out of joining my own government's team. They were not wrong in saying that what had happened to me was their fault. By not joining their side instead, I would not be able to survive on the alien planet when I left.

It was kind of tempting to want to go with the mutant's side of things. They made some fair points. I also felt they were not being honest with me either. Since I had to choose whose side I wanted to be on. I felt I might as well go with the humans fighting to survive. Not those that have already changed and seem to be now supporting the invasion going on.

I did not make it far before the first conflict broke out. I’m at least glad I had a helicopter and a tank on my side to deal with the mutants that were now attacking me. They seemed to want the crystal in my head and I preferred to remain living.

I ended up fighting off a couple of waves of mutants. To my shock at the end, a giant turtle spawned and tried to kill me. It was no match for a tank, however. We quickly took it down.

I then started to explore what was left of the area. Along the way, I started to speak with people. I needed some willing individual to partake in joining me on an alien planet. To my shock, many were far more willing than I was expecting.

I also ended up hitting up some experts from the military to water production. They each had their benefits to bring to the table. Some I'd later learn were not as useful as I was expecting. I could have gotten much better deals for the amount of space they took on the spaceship.

I also made quite a few mistakes before even leaving Earth. I wanted answers. I felt those in power could more than provide them. It turns out they were not so willing to speak to me. Many of them had not survived the current wave of attacks either. So even when I risked it all and ended up paying the ultimate price. There were no answers to gleam.

At least I could learn from those mistakes when I was, I had to start over again. I also would sometimes wonder if at some point I'll get a chance to return to Earth. There seemed to be many areas with a lot of strange things going on. Since I lacked the power, I simply could not press to find out much.

another bitter end.jpg

I also found myself in some quite nasty situations. I had some military folks tell me to turn around more than once. Each time I ignored them. I felt since I had the crystal what were they going to do to me? Kill me? I doubt that I was important to these people.

I would have at least thought they would have enough of a backbone to stop me from getting myself killed. It turns out they did not. They did not even show up to assist in the manner and provide the backup they said they would give. Another bitter end was found.

After that, I even attempted to recruit some people that seemed to be from the other side. As they call them mutants. I felt if I were to go to an alien planet, I wanted some scary-looking individuals along with me. Most of them however wanted nothing to do with me or the mission I found myself on.

I ended up wandering the streets for a while. I even swapped out some people I had originally invited along. As I had feared when I was first accepting people to join me. I ended up finding those that would be a bit more useful in the long run. Some were rather disappointed with my situation but I had the guns and manpower so they left without pushing their luck.

gone wrong.jpg

I on the other hand did end up pushing my luck yet again. I thought I could get some early answers. I even managed to defeat some well-organized individuals who were on Earth. I suffered some massive losses from doing so. It was all in vain. Between the large losses and not getting any answers from anyone. It was clear things were not going my way and I'd have to start again looking for fresh people to join my team.

Final Thoughts

Landing on the alien planet.jpg

My troubles were just starting. While I managed to leave Earth with nearly a full crew of varying useful Individuals. The alien planet we were now on was filled with nightmares. At every turn was a chance for death to win. At every turn, there was also a chance of phat loot and glory.

I would at least find that the struggle was going to be worth it in the end. That I'd be unlocking some quite powerful and cool things in the future. That I'd be going on some massive exploration adventures. Engaging in massive fights. Along with facing some scary foes on my mission to conquer the alien planet I now found myself on.
