Path Of Exile | Tier 17 And Failures

Tier 17 And Failures.jpg

Sometimes things just don’t go your way. This ended up being a day filled mostly with failures and getting killed in general. At the very least I did learn some things and made some progress in delve as well.

I ended up getting my first tier 17 map drop for the league. Can’t re-roll them unless the vaal orb changes the modifiers. With how much these things can go for I'd never risk corrupting the map with vaal orbs as with my luck it would stop being a tier 17 map or get even worse.

I did end up running it and got murdered when fighting the boss. This would not be the last tier 17 map I'd attempt either. Since I don’t run them with the right scarabs and atlas passive setup. I just don’t see how I could get more out of value than what they sell for.

I rather wish I had sold it. I did not make much from it. I’d end up waiting for a few levels and a whole lot of gear upgrades later before attempting another tier 17 map with just as disappointing results.

This is just something my character is not set up to do. This is also why in a game like Path of Exile when you are not specialized enough in doing something. It is usually best to sell it to someone else who can leverage it properly.

I however did want to test some of these out. Needless to say, it’s an experience I just did not care for at this point. Perhaps if I was playing a different setup, I'd change my mind set on that.

Not that I was going to let failure keep me down I felt it was about time I attempted Maven. I was not quite ready for it just yet. The memory game phase also gave me a bit of trouble once things started to get rather busy.

One thing I wanted was to get the voidstone from Maven to increase the lowest tier of maps. It would give me more tier 16 map drops in total. While also gives me a slight boost in tier 17 map drops as well.

I ended up getting mostly through the Maven fight before using my last portal into the arena and getting almost instantly killed. At the very least I had a few different takeaways that I'd apply for my next several attempts on Maven.

For the most part, I was just hoping the lack of damage on my end would end up being my biggest issue. I also don’t have a massive damage range either. That would end up proving issues during the later phases of the fight where there are a lot of things I need to avoid that can quickly kill me.

With the way the day was going, I was starting to feel the failures stack up. Even more so when I stepped onto a map to grind for some sulfate and did not realize the modifiers were no leaching and no regen. That was a quick death, me reentering the map looking and the modifiers, and porting out.

I decided I needed a bit of a break from things. It also had been a while since I had gone back into parts of Delve I'd already cleared and go exploring in the darkness for any loot waiting for me to collect.

After a while, I went and got a little bit of sulfate from mapping. I then used that opportunity to clear a couple of nodes near other fossil sites I've found in the past. The hope was to find some decent clusters that I could go farm for some quick money.

As you can see from just this section of delve that I was exploring around. I had cleared quite a few nodes casing after fossils and anything else that looked interesting enough to spend the sulfate into getting to.

I also ended up scrolling way up and looking for any past encounters that I either did not feel like running at the time or ones I failed to clear before.

I ended up killing one of the delve bosses Ahuatotli The Blind about half a dozen times. While most of his loot is not worth much. There looked to be some stuff that still had some decent value. They were however quite rare drops and luck as it had been from the start of the day was not on my side. At least these encounters that I had stacked up were now finished.

I’m not quite sure if this or the other delve bosses are worth my time. I did attempt to kill one other type of boss that I had access to. That one did not end up going well. I ended up getting killed. While you have unlimited attempts once you get killed you have to start over from the start of the fight. I decided I had enough and went back to exploring the darkness.

Sometimes I'm in the mood to clear out cities. Quite a few times I'm all for just skipping over them if I can. I decided today was as good as any way to hit up a couple of these nodes. I also added two more Ahuatotli The Blind Kills to my count passing through this section mostly exploring in the darkness.

I did after a while reach a Ahuatotli The Blind encounter that I could no longer mostly afk if I had to. While I was able to take him down after a lot of dodging of the laser beams and some other attacks. The fight went on for quite some time since I was starting to fall behind in having enough damage to make the fight trivial.

Just when I thought it had been a while since I had looted any kind of decent drop from Delve I ended up getting another divine orb. These ended up being quite rarer than I was expecting compared to other stuff I was getting. I was kind of hoping I'd hit a certain depth and they would start raining like candy to hasten how quickly I was able to get further gear upgrades.

Final Thoughts

prime res.jpg

I know there has been quite a lot of delve running at this point. I would end up spending over 150 hours in this league in this place within the first month of the league. So, it should not be unexpected that I'd be writing a fair bit about my adventures in that part of Path of Exile.

I was also still quite a distance away from reaching my goal of 1k depth. At least at this point, I did not feel I was getting stuck and unable to go down deeper. That allowed me to start stacking my currency to go after a decently massive upgrade for my build.
