Path Of Exile | Disappointing Grand Heists
Up till this point I had just been storing any blueprints for grand heists I've been looting. I’ve been hoping I looted some good ones with wings and all rooms unlocked. It was time to take a look and run the more worthwhile ones.
My first grand heist I decided to start things off easy. It was not with a blueprint that had a bunch of wings or rooms unlocked. I only ended up looting three of those kinds of blueprints.
While I could work on unlocking further wings or even rooms in a single blueprint. For the most part with how many I end up getting to drop anyway. I’d rather just get free fully unlocked ones than spend anything extra.
At least I did get a few lockpicking blueprints in general. At the end of each grand heist, I have to pick which reward I want out of a few choices. There should also be a decent chance of getting a good currency reward if I don’t like any of the item choices.
I was also hoping by now to have more than 30 blueprints not less than. The plan was to pick out the best and just leave everything else. I was hoping to have one long grinding session. I ended up narrowing things down to 10 blueprints in total. Leaving a few if I ever just get the itch to run some more later on during the league.
Like in many of the grand heists I ran, I'd make it to the reward room and try and price check the best I could of my options. A couple of times I ended up just going for the 18 or so chaos orbs rewards.
Most of the time the legendary that were a reward option were not selling for more than a couple of chaos. I did end up getting some six-links I picked as a reward with one of them I'm hoping to sell for around 4 to 6 divine orbs.
After warming up a bit and getting some further levels for my crew members since a few of them only had level three skills. It was time for a giant heist. I had a blueprint drop with four wings, 28 reward rooms, and eight escape routes.
The great thing about having the extra escape routes unlocked is you can get lucky and have it right next to the final reward room. Even better yet some of them were already locked before the alarm went off. So, I could unlock them ahead of time. Making for quite a quick and low-risk escape with my loot.
I then ended up going for a mix of at least getting some value of what would drop in chests such as the currency ones. Along with going for some higher risk ones like gem chests which I did not get lucky on.
I was kind of sad when I got an exalted shard drop. Those are worth about a single chaos. A couple of years ago I would have been thrilled to see some of those drops. Nowadays exalts are rather worthless it’s divine orbs you want.
I then started to clear out each of the four different wings. Each is treated as its heist having its own end rewards and alert meter. A few of the chests were just amazing to open and see a bunch of loot pour out. I swept everything up that might have had some volume without too much thinking about it for the time being.
In the past, I would have dropped everything into its stash tab to see what I ended up getting. I did not feel like doing hundreds of extra clicks this time around. So I just stored away my loot between each wing into stash tabs I have set up for different stuff.
On my second largest heist blueprint, I ended up getting a divine orb as a final reward. After checking to see the value of the other items around. They were not even close to what this was. I looted it and quickly darted just a few steps away to a backdoor escape I already had unlocked.
Perhaps the biggest loot of the night was this chest piece. I had other six links as rewards. None of them however had decent health or resistance. It was a bit of a shame it did not have some better defenses. It would however make a decent low-level item for someone’s alt or even if I make my own. I’m hoping it ends up selling for a decent price.
For the most part, a lot of the runs were disappointing. I might have only gotten a couple of chaos out of it. Sure, I looted some items that might be worth more on paper. However, getting them to sell would be a different story.
I’m also at a point now where I'd rather be out running maps or delve than having to stop to trade someone in person. The currency exchange market sure has made me a bit lazy and increased the value of my time. Since I can quickly list and just go without having to stand around trying to sell things.
Due to that fact, I kind of have a higher sale price for items in mind that would make me want to stop what I was doing. Otherwise, I have a second tab of stuff I try and sell if I just have the game running but I'm not doing much inside the game. That stash tab ended up getting filled with quite a few items from all grand heist runs.
Final Thoughts
I perhaps looted around 10-16 divine orbs worth of stuff. A bit shorter in amount than I was hoping. There is also a good chance I'll need to reduce prices on a few items many times. At least I did loot a decent amount of raw currency and some scarabs as well.
While I still have a few more grand heist blueprints. Most of them are not that great in the type of jobs that are required to run them. At some point, I might just speed-run a few and see what I get.
If nothing else I did get a few six-links I could use on any alts I make once they are high enough levels till I get them something better. While I was not looking to get alt gear out of doing this. It’s not like I got nothing.
I was hoping the heist armor slot drops I got would have been better. I might have considered keeping my Atlas heist slots if that was the case. They were rather lackluster. At this point, while I could make ok currency still in heist I was having a lot more fun elsewhere. So, I ended up removing any heist passive skills I had and putting them into making my maps more rewarding while also harder to run.
The next league I partake in I think I'll spend less time or even just skip doing heist again. This might be something worthwhile in the first couple of days of a fresh league. After that, I'd just rather focus on other content in the game.
