Windrose Review

Once in a while it’s fun to return to some blockchain games I’ve not played in quite a while and see what’s kicking. As I’ve talked about before during the Season Of The Wind event going down on the Enjin blockchain. There were two games on Enjin that I kept playing beyond just earning points needed for the event. The one I ended up playing the most ended up being Lost Relics.
If Lost Relics does not sound Forgotten, that is because it used to go by the name Forgotten Artifacts. While you can play this blockchain game for free. You are quite limited in what you can do. You are limited to 100 adventure runs per week and can only loot uncommon blockchain items.

As far as the 100 adventure limit goes for being a non-member. That seems rather reasonable. While I myself have done 1,572 adventures over the past 31 days. Quite a large amount of those numbers are from running Enchanted Island for crafting resources and running a lot of lower-tier adventures while I was still getting back into the swing of things. Once you account for running much harder adventures and other activities, my more recent weekly amount ran was only 289.
As far as what you can loot limitation. As far as lower-tier adventures go. The biggest you can realistically expect are uncommon Arcane Fragments. They drop from a creature called Arcanix, and each of the standard adventures has one Arcanix on each adventure. They can be worth between 0.70-.085 Enjin each. In the lower adventures, you will see them once in a while, but it’s not that often.

Lost Relics sees paying monthly for membership as part of the games progression. Membership unlocks an unlimited amount of adventure runs and the chance at any rarity of loot. While you can pay gold for it, it costs around 1.3 million to 1.5 million as I’ve been playing. This is done by buying 18 Luneri Bonds and then opening them and using the 1,800 Luneri in the shop for a month of membership. Bonds are used for other things as well. So prices can be a bit all over the place depending on what is going on.
One thing since returning is wanting to see if it was possible to earn enough gold to acquire membership. While it would take quite a long time to do so as a free-to-play player. I decided to bite the bullet and just buy my first month of membership for $17.99.

Buying membership with crypto or cash has another added benefit. It gave me enough Royal Sapphires to also unlock the current 15-week event going on. The event itself is quite a massive resource burn on the ecosystem as players spend enormous amounts of different rarities of Arcane Fragments for contract missions.
Joining this event by spending Royal Sapphires to unlock it was perhaps not the best idea for me to do so. As a returning player, I had a small stockpile of Arcane Fragments. It was, however, nowhere near what I’d be needing to do much in this event. Even grinding 1,500 adventures per month would not get me anywhere near what I’d need.
This, however, has quite the silver lining. The massive buy pressure on the Arcane Fragments has allowed me to offload what I had. Along with selling any that I loot. At least when I don’t spend any Arcane Fragments on upgrades or unlocking different things in the game itself.
There is also a boss fight to earn Arcane Fragments from. With my current gear level and lack of gold to buy consumables to fight the boss. Has not been the other part of this event I’ve been taking part in either.
Even more so since I need gold for membership and not spending 5k gold per run on potions and food. For a boss fight that is perhaps the hardest one to be in Lost Relics ever.

The good news is, once I was a member, I was able to earn enough gold to buy a month of membership. I spent around 1.4 million gold to get it. It was quite down to the wire, with just hours remaining in the end. I also spent 440k gold during the month on opening some containers and easily 150k on potions and food.
If I had to do it all again. I’d have played a bit more on the casual side and stayed free-to-play till I had level 30 in fishing and scavenging. While at level 20 in these gathering skills, you unlock a chance for rare Arcane Fragments to drop. As a free-to-play, you won’t have drops. Along with epic rarity once you hit level 30. This would have allowed me, once I started as a member, to not waste time trying to grind these gathering skills up to having a chance at higher-tier fragments.
At one point, I did peak at around 1,600 adventures over a 31-day time span. I was mostly running Ash, which is an uncommon adventure. Along with Indimar, which is a rare adventure. Once I had the gear to run the rare adventure almost as quickly as the uncommon.
A rare adventure drops 6 Enchanted Stones. 20 Enchanted Stones you can trade for a single Enchanted Island Scroll. Enchanted Island is where you farm for crafting resources. At the time, each Enchanted Island Scroll was worth around 4k gold.
As a result, if I had run 1,600 rare adventures. I would have acquired 480 Enchanted Island Scrolls. This would have netted me 1.9 million gold. This would have more than covered getting a single month of being a member. However, if I was free-to-play, it would have taken 16 weeks to be able to run that many adventures. You, however, don’t quite need that amount of gold either.
I, however, ran most of the Enchanted Island Scrolls I could get my hands on. Only sold them if I was in need of gold or during the last couple of days when I was coming up short.
Instead, I earned quite a lot less gold off them. Since the lower-rarity resources I could gather with my low-level skills at the time. I was mostly after the skill gain and the lucky Arcane Fragment here or there. This single run alone only netted 445 gold worth of resources instead of just selling it for 4k gold. I, however, lucked out big time and looted two uncommon and one rare Arcane Fragment with an estimated value of 7 Enjin.
I was also selling a lot of the higher rarity raw materials I was farming. Along with crafted materials, as I was slowly grinding my way up to making better food and potions. In many cases, however, at the lower end of the scale, the raw materials sell for more gold than the crafted item. As many are just using it as a way to level up different crafting skills.
At one point, my big idea to try and cover the remaining gold I was short on was to acquire Nightmare Vaults. This is done by running Descending Nightmares or Descending Hellfire adventures. These are quite different from normal adventures as they cost a single uncommon Arcane Fragment to run.

Descending Nightmares is quite different than normal adventures. There are ten floors, excluding any special end content that was recently added. With my gear level at the time, I was able to easily clear the first two floors before I’d exit. At the end of each floor, you have a chance to go deeper and risk it all or leave.
The highest Descending Nightmare floor I have made it to is level 5. I, however, ran out of energy to fight the final guardian, which is like a boss. So I died and got zero credit for that run.
In the end, you need 30 Descending Nightmares floors cleared per Nightmare Vault. At the time, I was selling each Nightmare Vault for 115k gold or so. Then the unthinkable happened. The final, highest-valued item was looted out of one of them. People then stopped buying them, and the buy orders for them dried up as well. I ended up offloading my final one at the time for only 88k gold. Making me quite short on the final gold I needed to get 30 days of membership.
The good news was at least for the first two weeks of the event. Golden Grinder Chests were dropping. After that, they stopped. I had a stockpile of 170 I had been holding onto for higher prices. While I was hoping for 1k gold each. I ended up selling for 690-720 in the end but getting the final gold pieces I needed.

As you can see in my last 24 hours before needing to buy a membership with gold. I was dumping what I would to get the last bits of gold needed. It also did not help at the time that bonds were going up and up in price.
While I also had a couple of sales of items selling for Enjin. Which are considered blockchain items. As non-blockchain items can only be sold for gold. I’d have needed around 615 Enjin to pay for monthly membership at that rate.
As far as earning enough Enjin by playing and selling items to cover membership costs. That would have been nice, but I preferred to hold onto any Enjin I’d get my hands on. I really need to upgrade my bow and replace one of my lower-rarity artifacts as well.

While I’ve not had any insane days yet of some big drop. This was one of my better 24-hour or so (I’m not quite sure how long the “recent drops” it shows goes back.)
I looted two Guardians’ Warchests which, thanks to a new item added to them, have increased to 40 Enjin each. Along with 4 rare and 10 uncommon Arcane Fragments. I also had earned 2 Rare Arcane Fragments from finishing some weekly event goals as well during that time which are not showing. Which, in total, for the fragments and the Warchest, was worth around 150 Enjin.
While quite a short cry from getting some insane weapon drop worth 60k Enjin. Let alone something more modest like 2k or 6k Enjin. I’d also not have to wait to sell such items I did get. For now, I can only dream of getting better item drops.
