World Of Xeen | Towers Raining Experience

Towers Raining Experience.jpg

I ended up getting access to two more towers. I was quite shocked at how quickly the levels would start flying by. Even more so since on the cloud side of the game, it felt like I could sometimes be a single level for hours. Now I could get a couple of levels with a single action.

I ended up running around the desert for a while. I noticed there were these strange almost lamp-looking things on the ground. I went up to one and it had a genie inside willing to grant me one of three wishes.

Most times it was just offering things like 10k gold or 500 gems. I ended up going for the experience every time. Only one character could get the wish but at 500k to 1 million experiences per genie lamp, I found. I ended up getting all my characters at least a level or two.

I then ended up finding a couple of barbarian or other camps to take out. Getting myself at least 250k per camp I destroyed. The experience at this point felt like it was just rolling in.

So far, the dark side has been feeling a lot more experience-rewarding than the cloud side of the game. I recall feeling like it was an endless struggle for experience on the cloud side. Now I'm starting to get a little worried that the amount of gold I have will all end up going into training for my next character levels.

While it would take a while. That would end up being my fate. From making millions of gold while on the dark side. Along with spending every single piece of gold I could find. Even sold off all the gear I found but did not want to wear. The experience would end up just being too great of a gain to keep up with.

From all my exploring around at this point. I ended up finding some of the quest items I needed. Each quest would in return reward me with a further 250k- 1 million experience. Most of the time it is around 500k experience.

I felt like I lucked out on one trip to the blacksmith to unload my bags and make some repairs. I found my first obsidian weapon. It was a battle axe. I ended up removing my paladin’s shield so he could wield a two-handed weapon. He has the highest level of might and accuracy. Anything now that he can land a hit on is devastating.

I then headed out to the next tower I had acquired access to the Northern Tower. This tower ended up being the home of the Vowelses Knights. While this place was a bit more challenging than most I've entered so far. I was able to manage to fight off the knights who in themselves seemed to give a decent amount of experience per kill

They had quite a few puzzles where you needed to type in the puzzle answer with the missing vowels. Each one of these puzzles would net me a further amount of decent experience.

I then made it to the top of the tower. There were a bunch of strange chairs. Any time I had one of my characters sit in them they went a bit insane in one way or another. I felt this had to mean something.

I attempted a few combinations. Before realizing I could have one character sit in a bunch of the throne chairs. Then have him or her sit in the main throne chair and realize they were getting two level gains each. Along with a nice stat boost as well. They even were cured of whatever kind of insanity the other chairs gave them.

While there I acquired the key to the Great Western Tower as well. Along with some energy disks. I was kind of hoping each tower would have had a key to the next. This so far has not always been the case.

I then entered onto the sky bridged yet again. It did not take long before I hit a dragon who killed the entire group rather quickly. It was clear I was not quite ready for the upcoming challenges I would face up there.

I ended up going back to the trainer and I must have had around ten level gains per character after everything. It was quite a drain on my gold stockpile. I still at least had enough left to keep going. At the rate I was gaining experience, however, I had no idea how much longer it would last.

Even more so after making another quest turn in for a nice 1 million experience yet again. That would be at least another level or almost two for some. This all felt rather fast.

The Western Tower was not as experience-rich as the first tower. It however more than made up for it with resistance gains. Everything in this tower for the most part was quite easy to kill.

I could take out most of the creatures that were guarding this tower at range with arrows. Sometimes the rooms would even be filled with a dozen or so wizard types of creatures. I’ll never know what exactly they were as I killed them before they could get to me.

The resistance gains in this place were a little strange. I noticed some characters got slightly more resistance gains than others for the different types. It seems like there was a maximum the fountain would raise their resistance to if I had them keep drinking from the waters.

I’m rather glad I ended up checking the fountains several times with each character. That can be something easy to forget about and overlook. Often in World of Xeen and later Might and Magic games you might be able to interact with something a couple of times before you stop getting a reward out of it.

I ended up going back to the trainer yet again. It did not take long to discover there was a maximum level of 30 training at one of the locations I usually go to for training. It looks like I can no longer just count on the town of Castleview to get everything I need done. I’ll have to start heading over to Sandcaster now.

I also ended up looting a couple of obsidian pieces of armor. While I'm far from having all obsidian armor and weapons. These last two tower runs sure are helping things out. I also ended up with a few platinum pieces of gear. All of this ended up being some massive upgrades for a couple of my characters.

Final Thoughts

While I'm a little disappointed with how short the tower dungeons have been so far. They are at least different enough providing their little challenges and rewards for running them.

It was also just insane how much experience I ended up gaining in such a short period. Thankfully I had found some decent amounts of gold along the way as well. This adventure was however a net negative in gold.

I’m also starting to get some rather nice gear as well. Each time I have to go make repairs it’s starting to add up to 50k gold or more sometimes. It’s a shame I can’t go back and reform some dungeons I've already done. As I need to find somewhere decent to make a bunch of gold. I’m glad I did not spend it having gear crafted out of all the different kinds of gems I was finding.
