World Of Xeen | Many Unfinished Quests Later

Many Unfinished Quests Later.jpg

In Might and Magic games. It sometimes feels like you get nowhere despite getting somewhere. On this adventure, I'd end up finding a lot of quests but not finishing most of them. I’d also find many dungeons but only can access one of them.

There I was minding my own business. When I fell into a hole. It was a hole filled with some trolls and loot. It turns out after checking some of the bones that there are a few of these around the place.

It appears the trolls have had some issues with getting their treasure stolen. I have no idea how that would happen. It’s not like you could just be going for a nice walk in the woods and fall into a hole filled with treasure.

While I don’t believe I ended up finding all of them. I have found enough of them to be over the troll holes. Funny enough I'll even see them once in a while and by the time I stop I'll still end up falling into the hole.

While the loot in these were never that great. At least one of them ended up having some permanent stat gains for a couple of my characters. That for me is perhaps the biggest reward and reason for me to keep hoping I'll fall another one of them.

I’m also still in the phase on the dark side of finding quite a few side quests. I found it quite interesting in this one I had an option of helping or just taking what I wanted instead. While it was tempting to want to rob the sprite. I thought it would not take me long to just run into whoever got kidnapped and return them.

I was not long. Shortly later I did end up just running into some orcs and killing them all. Along with some of their hideouts. This included freeing the missing sister. What I underestimated was my ability to return promptly back to the quest giver for my reward.

Thankfully the two energy disks she would end up giving me were not that important among all the other ones I'd end up looting. As there seems to be a few extra out there just in case you don’t find every random little spot like this quest to pick some up.

I ended up going into a few more gem mines, killing lots of wolves, and even more ogres as I continued exploring around. Marking down even further dungeons I could not find any way into them. The dark side sure seems to reject my access to places.

turned down from getting into a town.jpg

One place for sure I was hoping I could get into were towns. This ended up being quite a roadblock. The first town I only got back into after buying a pass sold by someone outside of it. The rest would be quite the struggle to find. With me running into all of them long before acquiring the needed passes to be allowed in them.

After getting told that I could not enter yet another town. I ended up noticing there were quite a few NPCs around the road near it. They each were trying to sell me different pieces of gear.

I ended up taking a chance and spending 20k gold on some boots. They were not that great. Everyone else was trying to sell me stuff at different prices as well. I don’t know if this is some kind of gambling money sinks in the game. They could also just be scamming merchants. I decided to save my gold as I had a feeling it would be far more needed in the future than whatever junk; I'd end up getting from these merchants.

For quite some time now my characters have lost a few years of their lives from un-natural aging. I’ve been looking for somewhere on the dark side to cure such a thing. I ended up coming across this fountain.

fountain of youth.jpg

It however seemed to be not in working order. Sure, enough in F4 (6,7) I found some kind of fountain of youth. I however needed to get a jewel to restore it. It seems like at this point I'm just stacking up many quests that I won’t be finishing any time soon.

After the very least quiet a long walk across the dark side. I came to the Southern Tower which I could gain access to. While this was yet another quick tower to clear. This ended up being quite a helpful little place.

artifacts sold.jpg

The owner of this castle was someone who acquired many rare artifacts and sold them. I ended up finding the ledger that had most of the stuff listed that I needed in it as being sold. It seems I was a bit late in many cases in requiring the goods in this tower.

This tower at least had some energy disks in it as well. At some point, I was going to need to turn them in. I however was not a huge fan of just unlocking a section of the out-of-phase castle one section at a time. Then wait a while till I had enough disks to do it again. I just wanted quite a few of them and then see how far I could get inside that castle.

As should be no shock. The person behind all the items being stolen was a master thief. He even had a book upstairs that my robber was able to read. Everyone else in my group could not read the book.

There was even a large treasure room. The loot in there was again quite disappointing. For how much gold this thief ended up making pawning things off. I was hoping I'd find it. It seems he is either hiding it elsewhere or has quite the spending habit of something.

I also found out there was another way to get into the tower after all. I found myself back on the sky road or as I've been calling it the sky bridge. These sky golems were still giving me quite a challenge. So, I did not stay up there that long.

I attempted to clear out to another dungeon. Hoping I can make some progress in getting into someplace else. Along the way, I ended up running into a wagon that was blocking things off. It gave a puzzle and required the answer to get past.

Final Thoughts

sky golem.jpg

After battling far too many sky golems and not feeling like I was making much progress. Along with running out of food to heal up. I decided it was time to teleport back to town and get off the nasty sky bridge.

I ended up going out and collecting even more side quests. It seems this side of the game is really into quests. I don’t think I even had this many on the Might and Magic 4 or Sky side of the game.

At the very least I now have many goals of things to find. I’m also hoping some of these side quests might lead me to get access to further dungeons. I was kind of shocked I did not get a few more dungeon keys out of all the quests I ended up picking up.
