Old School RuneScape | Freeing Some From Recipe for Disaster

Recipe for Disaster.jpg

It was time to free a bunch of people trapped in the time bubble for Recipe for Disaster. While it would not be everyone, I still had quite a few quests to run though. I wanted to see some of the quest grinding I've been doing pay off.

Thankfully once you get to this part of the quest things tend to be a bit easy. They tend to be more about gathering all the supplies needed than anything else. There would still be some leg work and other tasks to perform.

To make things even better many of the food ingredients I'd need to be gathering to craft different foods to feed people to free them would be in a special shop that will increase their offerings the further along I get in Recipe for Disaster.

Wartface and Bentnoze

The first task was to give the goblin quite a few different ingredients. He was, however, in the middle of doing something else first. Things did not go according to plan. At least not right away. The goblin cook’s kitchen ended up exploding!

Even with how bad the condition of his kitchen I was able to move forward with what I needed. I needed to take healthy things like bread and oranges and turn them into something more suitable for goblins. Such as soggy bread. Along with what I'm telling them is spicy maggots but it’s just fishing bait with spice on it.

Dwarf

Next up would be the dwarf. For him, I needed to go out to the mountains and get some answers from his father. This one was a bit of an odd one I guess dwarfs love gold.

I mostly just had to buy some special ale and add some gold coins to it. I then kept offering a dwarf further ale till he was so drunk he would agree to bake a cake. Which was all that was needed for the dwarf.

I’m starting to notice the number of times drinking is somehow involved in this in this game. I’m just glad I've recovered from that pub crawl I did a little while back and I did not have to do another one for this part.

I was also rather thrilled to get a 1k Slayer experience from finishing off this quest. This was one of those skills I have yet to get around to doing much. I now have level 16 slayer which was more than for the time being in some other quests that required a low-level slayer level to start them.

Pirate Pete

Some parts of this quest require you to do some cooking. I did not know it at the time, but you could burn the food you were preparing. Requiring you to go out and get those ingredients again. One only realizes these things once they happen to them.

I ended up having to go out to a dock and get some gear to go diving in. Once underwater I had to go around collecting different ingredients such as mudskipper hide and crab meat. Along with some cod I bought off the auction house.

I then ran over to an oven to cook the cake that was being made from the ingredients I had. It burnt wasting the ingredients I had gathered. So, I had to run back out to the spot where I went diving and regather some further crab since I did not gather any extras of that.

Thankfully my second attempt at baking the cake worked out. I at least had some ingredients to try three times if needed. I’m just glad I did not have to run back again and go for yet another diving trip.

Evil Dave

This guy earned his name on this one. I was not expecting this part to take as long as it did. I had to go out and get a kitten since my cat was overgrown. I then had to get some stew as well which I ended up buying.

So, what does a cat and a stew have in common? As it turns out I was to send out my cat who was not very good at catching rats in the basement. I can’t exactly blame the cat he was sent to deal with Hell Rats which are harder than normal rats to deal with. Any time that cat was able to kill a rat it dropped a random amount of a spice.

I then would apply a dose of the spice to a stew so I could give it to Evil Dave. He then would indicate if that spice was the correct amount or not. If it was not, I'd have to repeat the process the second time around trying out two of the spice. Then I had to repeat the entire process in total for four different spices.

I ended up having some rather bad luck. I was having a hard time finding red spice. A couple of times when I had one drop it tended to be 1 instead of the max of four that I've had some others drop as.

After giving Evil Dave a stew with one red spice in it he told me it was incorrect. So, I had to go out and catch more rats and give him a stew with two red species in it. He then told me again it was wrong. This meant I needed enough three red spice which took lots of killing of rats to get.

Once I worked out how much of each of the spices to use in a stew. I then made one final stew and gave it to Dave Who wanted to eat it all but thankfully he did not. As I needed to give it to the version of him that was trapped in a time bubble.

Lumbridge Guide

With how long Evil Dave took I'm rather glad this one went over quickly. I just had to go through some strange questions for him at the Wizard Tower. So, he would enhance an egg, bucket of milk, and flour.

Skrach Uglogwee

I had no idea when I was hunting birds that I should have made some further ogre arrows. Thankfully I had a couple I kept as I was going to be needing them to collect all the ingredients, I needed for Skrach Uglogwee.

I also made a mistake after doing quite a few quests of not restocking on healing items. As it turns out that would end up being a huge mistake. I needed to gather some swamp gas and hunt around a piece of swap that had an ogre spawn right at it.

While I managed to kill the ogre a couple of times. I was getting quite low on health by then. Even more so since I kept getting a chompy bird to spawn instead of a Jubbly bird which I needed the meat from.

I even went AFK for a bit in a somewhat safe spot to regenerate some health the slow way. In the end that just took far too long so I ran out to a bank and grabbed a couple of pieces of food.

After getting some spawns of chompy birds and re-logging a couple of times. A jubbly bird spawned. By then I was just down to three ogre arrows which were needed to hunt the creature.

I would end up taking three shots at the Jubbly bird. Picking up my arrows and equipping them. Then taking some further shots. At least my ranger skill is not as low as my magic, and this did not take too many times repeating the process till it was killed.

Final Thoughts

The dining table is now starting to look quite empty. I just have a couple of people left. I also have quite a few quests I need to finish before I can even start on them as well. I was also lacking some needed skill levels. It would end up being some effort needed on my part if I want to advance Recipe for Disaster further than I already have.
