Eve Online | Cosmos Amarr Material Farming

farming a relic site.jpg

One of the harder things for the Amarr is materials to manufacture the BPCs you get from running Cosmos missions. As they tend to have a lot lower supply than, say, Caldari, with fewer players farming them. While it’s not as bad as other factions. The market for those materials is so small that a single person could buy it all up and still have loads of BPCs left to craft.

There are three main cities where you can run to farm these special materials. I’m just going to be over the lowest access one that has the least amount of combat to deal with as well.

The Cosmos' special materials, in general, come from hacking cans in special sites to get the materials. For Amarr, you need a relic analyzer. While these cans are not hard to get into. That, for some, including Amarr ships, can be a bit rough, giving up a mid-slot for an analyzer while also dealing with the combat nature of these sites.

Getting Access And Thakor Udokas Mission

Thakor Udokas.jpg

Thakor Udokas only has one mission and can be found in the Zimse system at the Museum Arcana beacon. He also just so happens to be next to the relic hacking container that has the item he requires. The container is named Trial Of Skill, and it’s an easy relic one.

Since you are only given 5 minutes to pick up the bonus reward, which is whatever random BPC you get. You might as well just acquire the Runic Inspiration first.

Even with some bad luck, I found the system core like I had. It was still a breeze. Granted, I was in an Anathema. That was, however, overkill. I did not even need to use the repair I looted.

From hacking into the relic, can you also get the Key Of The Arcane. This is what is needed to gain access to the special site to farm Amarr Cosmos resources from.

Museum Arcana

The good news is the key to the site is not consumed, and if, for whatever reason, you need another, you just get a new one out of the relic can next to the warp gate into the main site.

I ended up running this site in a battlecruiser that had a relic analyzer. The biggest issue here is that the rats inside guarding the place respawn quite frequently. There are also two frigates that web and scram you, which can end up causing you a lot of issues.

There are also two battleships in this pocket. Unlike some of the cruisers and other ships, which only get aggressive if you get too close. The battleships will get aggressive on you shortly after they spawn. They also set up for range, which can be an issue for a lot of people looking to farm this site quickly.

Something like the Harbinger I was using alone can’t out-tank the incoming damage from the battleships. Since you are at the cans, working on them. That also means you could get the spawn right on top of you.

While bringing something like a battleship could easily deal with the other battleships. That limits your ability to quickly move around the pocket, hitting up the relics. So, there is a bit of a tradeoff unless you come in with a lot better tank on a smaller ship that can still clear the site quickly enough.

The good news is that there are so many cans to hack that they end up respawning faster than you can clear them out with a single person. While it might be tempting to use a cargo scanner to pick out what you want. Even the lower valued items that might only have a 5k ISK estimation could end up going for over 200k if the supply for them on the market is low. Assuming there are even any for sale in the first place. On top of that, with this many cans in a single site, it’s hard to keep track of what you checked already if you're not just running them all.

That is also nice when you show up here and someone else is already in there. With a random person also farming, the spawns are not much of an issue anymore. As long as both random players understand to help clear the site when there are respawns.

These relic cans are not hard to get into. Out of hours of farming. I might have only failed one of them. I then just made another attempt and got it on that try. You do, after a while, get tired of playing the mini-game after a few cycles around the pocket. Even more so if you must focus on the rats respawning as well.

What ended up being the solution I used, and I've noticed others as well. You farm this site with two people. You have one in a battleship sitting at their optimal range, killing anything that spawns.

If the frigates end up swarming them, you are being out far enough usually have a good chance of killing them. Without anyone needing to use drones and having them blown up by the respawns.

Now, that does mean you are having to split the loot you get between two people. It, however, brings down the stress a lot over trying to solo it. Where the person focusing on the cans can just shoot a couple of rats at respawn time, but put all their focus on hacking the cans. So you end up getting more loot per hour.

As far as it looks. Not every single special cosmos material you need to manufacture the BPC you get from running the Cosmos mission drops in this one site. You do, however, end up getting the Takmahl drops. Some of them can be worth 100k, 4 million, or around 20 million each. The estimated price above is off by a couple of million.

20 million in loot.jpg

While a lot of cans just have the lower-tier, near-worthless components in them. If you want to do a lot of manufacturing, you will soon realize there just aren't enough for sale by other players. To the point, you will be paying more than any profit margin you were hoping to have on an individual item.

In my first trial run, I ended up farming over 200 million ISK worth of materials once you account for their real selling prices. I then ended up turning my share of the loot into a larger amount of items than that from just a single BPC alone.

The Curator

Since you are already on the Museum Arcana site, farming. You might as well be on the lookout for the items that drop in the room that you need to do all three missions. They are Takmahl Centrifugal, Holy Statue, and Ritual Texts.

The Ritual Texts drop from the battleships. While the other two, you get out of the cans at the site itself. After a while, you do end up with a few extra copies of everything.

Final Thoughts

While there are other sites to run as well. They require having harder-to-get keys or having a hard respawn to deal with. This site ends up being a great starting point to get some materials in your pockets so you can craft some of the BPCs you have stacking up.
