Old School RuneScape | Trolls And Ogres

Trolls And Ogres.jpg

One might consider it to be a tough situation when you find yourself between trolls and ogres. Even more so when love is involved. Let alone the many other issues in some of the quests I'd be doing.

Quest: The Watchtower

This next quest I was quite excited to do as the reward was a 15k magic experience. At the time when I did this quest that was a decent chunk of experience. Throughout this quest, I'd be working on restoring The Watchtower as a town was having a bit of a fight with some ogres that lived close by.

I also rather liked the fact that this took place near Yanille. As that would be the town my house would be located in. I have not done a lot of questing in the area. So, any chance I get at getting to explore the surroundings is just pure fun at this point.

I ended up going up to the medium-sized tower that was supposed to be protecting the area. I ended up finding out after far too much talking with the person in charge of the tower that some crystals that are used that keep the ogres out have gone missing.

Let’s just say the ogre were not that interested in returning the missing crystals. I decided to show them what happens when they defy me by taking out one of their own and bringing proof back of my deed.

In return for what I did, they decided to humor me further. I needed to gain access to their city. At first, they still did not want to give me access. So, they sent me on a task to retrieve an item on a small ogre island. I’m sure they were hoping I was going to get killed there and no longer be an annoying thing that kept showing back up demanding to enter the city.

While out on that island I ended up finding one of the crystals I needed. I also retrieved the item I was tasked with getting. I was a bit shocked they in the end decided to let me inside the city. Perhaps they were thinking the sooner I got killed or found the crystals I was after the sooner I'd go away. Which was not far from the truth at least for the time being.

I was rather expecting to be in a lot more combat situations than I was when I got access to the city. The ogres for the most part was willing to leave me alone as long as I did not get in their way. A bit of a mistake on their part as I went on a stealing spree in search of the remaining crystals I needed.

On occasion, an ogre would want to cook me alive. I ended up discovering they were quite easy to bribe. They were also quite dim-witted. So anytime I did run into any trouble while in their city I found workarounds.

In and around the Ogre City were quite a few different caves. After taking a peek into one of them I discovered a creature called Skavid. I started to get the funny feeling they were more responsible with at least one of the crystals going missing. So, I investigated further and discovered they did have one.

While there were many other things I did for the remaining crystals. One of them involved me going into a cave filled with dragons. It seemed like quite a few players were farming these creatures inside. Which made things easier for me as I was able to sneak around not getting attacked. Till the moment I had found my target who was suspected of having a crystal on him which he did.

At last, I had acquired all of the crystals and returned them to The Watchtower. The wizards then came together and were able to get the protection for the city going again. Hopefully, the local ogres will be kept at bay from now on.

Zogre Flesh Easters

I should have known I was not done dealing with ogre. These however seemed to be zombies making things even worse. I was however ready for a throw down and I've already seen enough strange things I was not going to be phased by any zombie ogres.

down in a cave.jpg

The origin of the outbreak of zombie ogre was tracked down to a cave and I was permitted to enter into ogre territory that is resided in and explore for clues. Down in that cave, I ended up finding a spell, human remains, a backpack, and a bunch of other things. I was not quite sure how this was all connected to the zombie ogre. So, I decided it was best just to hold onto anything odd I found down below.

After returning with what I found it was believed these zombie ogres might have been the result of a wizard named Sithik. So, I decided to give him a little visit. I was not shocked to find he was resting in a bedroom after being ill from some unknown disease. It seemed to me quite likely he was messing with things she should not have been.

the truth.jpg

having a bit of a talk with him it was clear he was not going to corporate. Despite the fact, he was in quite a weakened state. I decided the best course of action was to poison his tea with a certain plant that is known for making people speak the truth.

In the end, the only way to stop the spread of the zombie ogres was to destroy an altar and do battle with an ogre that I assumed had become the zombie leader.

Thankfully there was a decent safe spot and the magic gear bought along for this quest was all I needed to defeat him. I ended up using some powerful undead magic called Crumble Undead. With how powerful this spell is I feel like I should be hunting undead creatures more often.

Once Slash Bash the leader was dead, I was able to claim my reward. While it was not much I did get 2k experience in ranged, fletching, and herblore. I also collected some bones from Slash that I'd be needing for another quest I'd be doing some other time. Which I always love doing as I ended up getting more than one quest worked on from doing this one.

Quest: Troll Romance

troll romance.jpg

At least I did not have to play matchmaker in this one. A troll was already in love with another troll and he wanted me to find some leverage in winning him over. It seems trolls usually fight each other to the death to win over a female. That was however not an option as the troll he was competing with was known for being quite strong.

I kind of found it bad for the troll when I found him off crying alone in the caves. She could not shut up either about the love of his life. I never thought someone telling me his love smelled like a dead rotting ice wolf as a compliment. I suppose in troll terms there is not much of a higher honor. There was no way I could not help the guy out.

getting ready for a trekk.jpg

I ended up having to travel quite a long distance to help him out. I also gathered supplies to create a sled. The location I was going to would be up in the north of Troll country in the deep and icy snow.

This was not the first time I had to make the trip either. Thankfully I know a little bit of a shortcut. I ended up teleporting out of the area I was in and walking over to a Fairy Ring that was off to the west. From there it was just a small walk into a side entrance to the troll caves. It would still be a bit of a walk but I'd end up not having to take the northern path that was filled with trolls that deal ranged damage as you are trying to get through a mountain pass.

Why did I go through all of this trouble? After speaking with some experts, I was told of a flower that trolls view as special. That and I also just wanted a sled. It was quite fun sliding down the mountain top over sheets of ice while I was looking for the lower in question.

Getting the flower was however not enough to win her heart over for the troll. I’d end up needing to defeat his competition in love for him to have a chance. While I was dealing with quite a powerful troll. I had some tricks up my sleeve for defeating him. The massive melee hits he would usually dish out onto someone did not affect me at all.

Troll names in this game make me laugh a bit. I’m not sure what one did to be named “Arrg” It would however no longer matter as I took him out. This also left the door wide open for the troll I went to help to win over his love.

Final Thoughts

I can only hope it will be a while before I have to see another troll or ogre again. They both smell so bad I think my armor is going to need to be burned from being in the caves I was in. Hopefully, they won’t be asking for any help from me anytime soon.
