Eve Online | Thoughts On Upcoming Capsuleer Day And Events

I feel like I lucked out on this one. I was hoping after returning to the game there be some events I could join in at some point. Not even two months after coming back this massive thing pops up.

So, there has been a Drifter Crisis going on for a bit. Since I've not been playing recently, I'm a bit behind on all the lore and action that was going down regarding that. The bad news is I did miss out on some of the requirements I believe to fully get into some of the stuff that will be taking place soon.

To read about all the finer details of the upcoming event it can be read here. I’m mostly going to be speculating what I can from it with my prior and rather outdated game knowledge. Along with highlighting anything I'm excited about.

Right after I started playing again the Race For The Hive event went down. While I did end up joining the Triglavian side who ended up winning it. I never earned any points since I was fully solo at the time.

I knew from the Race For The Hive event that the top five factions would be given access to some kind of special wormhole space. I had no idea that it be rolling over into Capsuleer Day events.

The good news is since then the small gang I play with have all returned to the game. So, I'm hoping that means I'll be able to jump in on some of the action in this event. When it came to Race For the Hive it looked like you needed at least two people to do anything, so I just did not bother with it.

The great news Unlike former Capsuleer days they are making this thing a whole what they are calling a seasonal event. It will also last for a month starting from April the 15th and going to May the 15th.

In the past, they have mostly just done daily log-in rewards. They are doing that again. So, it’s well worth logging in just to scoop up some juice stuff. There will be both Omega and Alpha rewards.

From my understanding in the past, they have run some amazing deals to buy Omega time during Capsuleer Day. I’m hoping there will be some sweet deals to pick up some game time on the cheap. As I've been bouncing back and forth between being a free-to-play Alpha and a paid Omega.

They have also made a point to say this event will have something for all play styles. A lot of people in this game play solo or like myself in a small corporation gang when we can. So, I'm hoping there will be stuff for the average player to do.

They have brought up that people involved in combat, exploration, site hacking, and manufacturing will have some kind of place in this event. I just hope those who did not qualify for Race for The Hive will still have more than enough to do.

They did mention that a massive amount of the content that is expected from the event will take place in Drifter Wormhole space. So that seems to be the reward for those factions that did well during the Race For The Hive event.

I for one am rather glad to see cause and effect from other events rolling into this one. That makes you want to go out and do these things since you don’t know what kind of outcome is expected from partaking in the future.

There are even hints that along with this being a final stand. That if the Drifters win bad stuff will go down in the game. That to me seems like a great way to get most players in the game to want to get involved in some way or another.

This is also something you just rarely see in games these days or even ever. Eve Online has several times over the years had profound lasting effects on players have done. Everything from people being able to see the remaining wreck of the first Titan to even some of the protests that went down.

As far as my standpoint there will be stuff for mining, site hacking, and exploration. I’m making sure now that I have ships to be able to go out and do those things. I’m hoping they all won’t be in wormhole space. They have stated that things outside of the wormhole space will also be going down in what is High Sec.

It sounds like there are going to be some new minerals to go out and mine. That is more than something I and a couple of friends can just go out and go after. If it’s in a reasonable part of the game.

It’s also quite exciting that there are going to be new officer mods dropping from this event. Many are already joking that shuttle ganking is going to skyrocket as people try and use a shuttle to transport insanely expensive loot to market hubs to sell them. It's almost tempting to want to go craft a bunch of shuttles now hoping there will be some kind of price increase for them. They are however a bit on the lower end.

What is interesting is already seeing the markets react to what kinds of ships people will need. There has been a mention of new sites that will be focused on people using tech II battlecruisers.

As one would expect. The markets have already reacted to that news. People have been going to buy sprees for their personal use or for expecting the prices on those ships to skyrocket.

Along with manufacturing making what switches in their productions to put more of a focus on tech II battlecruisers. If those are the ships people are expected to be using in wormhole space one can expect quite a few of them to get blown up

I’m hoping since the developers are hinting at new Society of Conscious Thought ships. Maybe there will be some tech II ships to go along for the new sites. That is however quite pure speculation on my part.

For those not in the know. Society of Conscious Thought ships up to this point all just require the basic spaceship command I skill requirement to fly. Naturally doing so without being able to use the proper weapons and other models for them is not a great idea.

I somewhat hope if there are tech II variants that they have some actual skill requirements. Since the current ones out don’t. They are known for being a little lacking in stats as a tradeoff for people being able to get into much bigger ships than they would ordinarily be able to fly.

There are also hints at new kinds of filaments. Since there is a lot of mention of drifter space. I’m going to speculate that will be what these new filaments are geared towards. Many are hoping these will be some kind of new Abyssal type of thing to do. Where perhaps bigger ships are usable that you can’t use in Abyssal.

Final Thoughts

Regardless of the information being a bit tight right now. This sounds like there is going to be some exciting times ahead. Makes me wish I was still living in a wormhole and knew more about things like Pochven.

Still, I'm expecting there to be some things I'll be able to join in on. Here is hoping there is enough for small gangs to solo players to enjoy. Events like these can be rather rewarding but also costly.
